The NYU Tech Venture Accelerator<\/a> (TVA)<\/strong> is a new six-month program that will give STEM-focused research teams access to $50,000 in grant funding<\/strong>, workshops, mentorship, and more to transform their research into scalable ventures and prepare for product development\/commercialization. <\/p>\n

Location\/Dates:<\/strong> The program runs from February 3-July 21, 2023<\/strong>. Activities will be held twice a month on Fridays, with additional meetings with mentors\/advisors taking place on an ad hoc schedule. The program will take place via Zoom<\/strong>, with additional networking and social events held at the Leslie eLab on NYU\u2019s Washington Square Campus (for teams based in NYC).<\/p>\n

Teams will gain access to:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 $50,000 in milestone-based grant funding<\/strong> from NYU\u2019s Office of the Vice Provost for Research. Funding is to be used for purposes such as paying team members, purchasing materials\/equipment, traveling to conferences and in-person NYC activities, etc, and will be distributed in tranches based on achieving key milestones
\n\u2022 Core business development activities<\/strong> including bimonthly standups, expert-led workshops, 1:1 mentorship from industry professionals, invites to in-person networking and social gatherings, + the opportunity to present their ventures in front of a live audience of senior NYU leadership, venture capital investors, and fellow faculty, at a final showcase
\n\u2022 $10,000 in Amazon Web Services credits<\/a>, a free year of Github Enterprise<\/a><\/strong> for (up to) 20 members (and 50% off in the second year), and other discounts with software and service providers such as Hubspot<\/a> and Notion<\/a>
\n\u2022 Legal support<\/strong> to incorporate their ventures
\n\u2022 Office hours<\/strong> with attorneys, venture capitalists, SBIR\/STTR grant writing consultants, and consultants with expertise on regulatory pathways and procedures
\n\u2022 Co-working space at the Leslie eLab (with extended hours)<\/strong> for the duration of the program<\/p>\n

Who It\u2019s For:<\/strong> The TVA is open to all NYU full-time\/research faculty, or researcher-led teams that are interested in commercializing STEM-based research developed at NYU across the life sciences, physical\/material science, data science, computer science, and engineering fields. Applicants should have technology that is ready for product development and commercialization<\/strong>, as well as an initial target market\/customer identified and a foundational team ready to commit to the venture in the future. <\/p>\n

This program is NOT open to student-led ventures unless they are collaborating with an NYU full-time\/research faculty member (with extremely limited exceptions).<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> Applicants must have completed the first two phases in the Tech Venture Program (the Tech Venture Workshop<\/a> and NSF I-Corps program<\/a> or equivalent) to be accepted to the Tech Venture Accelerator, with limited exception. The Accelerator represents the final phase in the three-part Tech Venture Program series<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n
