Steven Kuyan

Special Advisors to the IIIE Director

Steve Kuyan was the Director of Entrepreneurship at NYU Tandon and the Managing Director of the NYU Tandon Future Labs until January 2022 when he decided to pursue a new career in a venture backed startup.  Steve was a cofounder and helped launch the Future Labs, a public-private-academic partnership created to shorten the time from idea to real-world impact.  By creating a sustainable incubation program, the Future Labs helped make New York City one of the fastest-growing hubs of deep tech entrepreneurship in the country.  Steve also played a key role in connecting the Future Labs to the academic entrepreneurship and innovation culture at NYU Tandon. He was instrumental in turning the Tandon InnoVention competition into a global competition involving students from NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai.  He also started the Tandon Made Challenge and the Tandon-Rusk Challenge, two student challenges focused on finding implementable solutions to specific real-world problems and the NYU Tandon A/X Studio that brings together the NYU community and leaders in NYC’s entrepreneurship ecosystem to build viable companies from the world-class IP created at the university. Steve founded NYCai to help NYC be a leader in Artificial Intelligence through public education and was the cofounder and served as co-Director of the NYU Center for Responsible AI. Additionally, Steve is s an advisor to and investor in several startups, and has spoken worldwide on entrepreneurship, incubation, ecosystem development, and artificial intelligence.  He is an Adjunct Professor teaching entrepreneurship at NYU Tandon and supports the school’s Entrepreneurship minor, which he helped launch.
