NYU Nanofabrication Cleanroom Access

New Users

The Cleanroom has three types of users:

Internal Users

Internal users are NYU students, postdocs and faculty. Gaining full access is a two-step process involving:

Once the user has been certified to gain entry, the user will be trained on the piece of equipment of interest. Once that training has been certified by the cleanroom staff, the user will gain tool use privileges.

External Users

External Users are typically students and faculty from neighboring colleges and universities. Gaining access for external users is a multi-step process involving:

  • Becoming a part of the NYU affiliate management system to obtain an NYU ID;
    • Nanofab staff will obtain user information and request an account with the NYU affiliate management system
  • The completion of the NYU Environmental Health and Safety (NYU EHS) Lab Safety and Hazardous Waste Training;
  • The completion of the NYU Nanofabrication Cleanroom Chemical and Equipment Safety Training.
    • Users must read and understand the safety manual and take a safety exam in order to show competence
    • User will not be able to access the safety exam until they have a NYU net ID

Once the user has been certified to gain entry, the user will be trained on the piece of equipment of interest. Once that training has been certified by the cleanroom staff, the user will gain tool use privileges.

Industrial Users

Gaining access for Industrial Users is a three-step process involving:
